Hand-crafted fine leather straps and small goods

A Slightly Tall Tale
Once in a great many years, a number of seemingly unrelated moments collide into each other creating something rather extraordinary. Badger Leatherworks might just be one of these stories.
Depending on who you ask it all starts out in the Shenandoah Valley, a beautiful strip of land between the Allegheny and Blue Ridge Mountains.
Bill Clemmer (the creator of Badger Leatherworks) spent her formative years listening to and playing old-time music all up and down this fine patch of land. She cut her teeth playing around local campfires and branched out to festivals picking up a few friends along the way and a travel itch that wouldn’t quit.
Bill Clemmer - Somewhere out in New Zealand
Her wandering soul lead her out on the highways and Byways of our fair country speeding through cold western nights way past the Mississippi. From there the yearning to go further grew and grew until she left our country’s confines and headed about as far as one can go, to the beautiful islands of New Zealand.
In the untamed wilderness of the South island she trained horses, wrangled sheep, and trekked across vast swaths of untouched land.
She spent long hard days out in the elements battling against weather, bad horses, and a few spots of bad luck. Following a slew of accidents that left her in the hospital a ticket was bought and she headed home.
Once back in the Shenandoah valley she rekindled something that was never really gone. Pulling out the leather tools she set to work creating many of the guitar and banjo straps you’ll find here.
Now you may be wondering why I’m you telling you this? That’s a fair question to ask. Sometimes you need to see the fire that slowly burns, stoked with bumps, bruise and endless miles. Only then can you start to appreciate the depth of the work, only then can you see that it ain’t a guitar strap. Nope. It ain’t a banjo strap neither.
It’s a piece of history, a combination of Bill’s countless wanderings, grit, creativity, and ruthless desire to create the best damn leatherwork she possibly can.
If you’re lucky enough to get a Guitar or Banjo strap from Bill, sling it over your shoulder in pride knowing that you’re a part of the story now. It’s your turn to live wild and free.
